Yoji Kojima (0-0) vs. Honey (0-0)
Yoji Kojima (0-0) vs. Honey (0-0)
Before the match began, Honey went for the handshake, eager to kick off the Grand Prix on a positive note. Yoji wasn’t as eager, scoffing at the hand before circling. What followed was a blistering back and forth, the two trading the advantage back and forth. Yoji found himself growing frustrated at Honey’s resilience, the Bringer of Sunshine refusing the stay down for too long. His frustration continued to build as Honey fought back into the match, even managing to connect with the Hiyah for a close two. Yoji slapped the mat in anger before jumping to his feet, firing off the dreaded green mist. Honey managed to avoid it just in time before leaping up, connecting with Honey’s Ultimagic! Yoji struggled to escape, but Honey leaned back, forcing the submission.
Result: Honey (1-0) defeated Yoji Kojima (0-1) at 9:38 by submission via Honey’s Ultimagic (Jumping Spike DDT into Guillotine Choke)
Block A Match
Erik Holland (0-0) vs. Spectre (0-0)
Erik Holland (0-0) vs. Spectre (0-0)
Flanked by Jake Archer, Spectre entered this match with a lot to prove against the Badd Breed leader. Starting the match with lightning quick attacks, Spectre looked to wear down Holland’s legs, trying to take away his base. This stick-and-move strategy seemed to give Spectre an advantage in the early going, but once Holland grabbed a hold of him, the tide quickly turned. Archer looked to help his friend by interfering where he could, but the presence of Aaron Gresham and Joe Stanton quickly nullified him. Spectre looked for a last minute rally, but Holland overpowered him, delivering the Toxic Avenger for the three.
Result: Erik Holland (1-0) defeated Spectre (0-1) at 11:02 via Toxic Avenger (Attitude Adjustment)
Block B Match
Aaron Gresham (0-0) vs. Kenneth James Bradford (0-0)
With Aaron and Joe already at ringside, KJB made his lavish entrance, looking down on his opponent. Loudly declaring that good hair alone wouldn’t defeat him, KJB went to work, attacking before the bell. KJB went to work on the left leg, looking to hobble his opponent. Within minutes, Gresham was struggling to put weight on his leg, using the ropes for support. Refusing to go down without a fight, Gresham fought back, the crowd urging him on with every step of the way. Gresham managed to connect with a Nicaraguan Kick that sent both men down. Fighting to his feet, Gresham looked to finish things with Dream Street, only for KJB to roll through with a victory roll for the surprise three.
Result: Kenneth James Bradford (1-0) defeated Aaron Gresham (0-1) at 10:28 by pinfall via rollup
Block A Match
Izzy Van Doren (0-0) vs. Michael Hayden (0-0)
With this being final match before intermission, Izzy and Hayden seemed determined to give the fans plenty to talk about. Izzy was more than capable of holding her own against Hayden, using her speed to keep up with the Limitless founder. Hayden seemed to enjoy the challenge, stepping it up after a particular exchange left him on the defensive. The former Kamikaze Pro Tag champ was more than happy to meet him, the two hitting each other with everything in their arsenal. It was as Izzy went for Adios Amigos (Headlock Driver) that Hayden made his move, slipping out before connecting with the Hand of God (Spinning Backfist) before Haydenism (Dominator-lift GTS) got the win.
Result: Michael Hayden (1-0) defeated Izzy Van Doren (0-1) at 15:01 by pinfall via Haydenism (Dominator-lift GTS)
Post match, Hayden grabbed a mic, asking Izzy to stay for a moment. He mentioned how he first met Izzy while working for FIW, how she had stood out among the pack even then. He mentioned that he had kept a close eye on her, knowing that she had everything it took to be a success in this business, and given her recent title reigns, he knew she was something special. He hoped she advanced in this tournament, because if anyone were to represent Limitless, he’d be happy to have her at the helm.
Intermission
Many fans were quick to offer praise to Holland and Honey, congratulating the two on their victories earlier in the night. Fans also gave condolences to Aaron Gresham, who was still walking with a noticeable limp, a fact that KJB was more than happy to mention at every possible moment. Things almost came to a head when Joe Stanton stood up for his friend, engaging in a tense staredown with KJB that required several students to intervene. Aaron looked to play peacemaker as well, reminding Joe that he had a match coming up soon and needed to focus on that instead. Loudly declaring his night done, KJB retreated to the back, students once again acting as a barrier between him and the fans. As he left, the mood picked up considerably, with the Badd Breed more than willing to take photos with fans. Aimi Jun was also in attendance, fans congratulating her on becoming Gaijin and Intercontinental Champion. Koji Uchiha could be seen eyeing the proceedings, scoffing when Migeru Takahashi’s name was brought up.
Block B Match
Starr (0-0) vs. Joe Stanton (0-0)
The two Badd Breed members shared a handshake at the beginning of the match, both men knowing that an early win would put them on the right track. Starr and Joe quickly went to work, putting out a solid match between the two. The term “high risk” was an understatement in this match, as Starr found himself crashing hard as Joe managed to avoid both a suicide dive to the outside and a springboard crossbody. Using his heavy strikes, Joe had Starr reeling after a solid right left him stumbling in a daze. Looking for the end, Joe went to pick Starr up, only for Starr to slide behind him and connect with an inverted hurricanrana. As Joe began to get to his feet, he was blasted from behind with the John Wilkes Boot (Rear Yakuza Kick), knocking him back down and giving Starr the victory.
Result: Starr (1-0) defeated Joe Stanton (0-1) at 13:46 by pinfall via John Wilkes Boot (Rear Yakuza Kick)
The Invitational
The Mighty Now Thrive (Null & Kid Terra) (0-1) vs. The Feline Consortium (Il Gatto & Macho Tiger) (0-0)
The Feline Consortium received quite a few stares in the early goings of the match, the crowd unsure of how to respond to the feline fanatics. By contrast, Null and Kid Terra received a surprising amount of cheers, the Limitless fans more than happy to see the two back. Both members of the Feline Consortium were quick to showcase their brawling abilities, Macho Tiger in particular delighting in tossing Null around the ring with ease. It was as he looked to deliver The Boot (Running Bicycle Kick) that Null found his opening, narrowly avoiding the kick before leaping up with a reverse neckbreaker. Struggling to his feet, Null connected with an enzuigiri before leaping out, making the tag. Kid Terra entered like a house of fire, taking it to both Il Gatto and Macho Tiger, sending the big man to the outside following a springboard plancha. Focusing on Il Gatto, Terra managed to take him down with a spinebuster before making the tag to Null, signalling for the end. Terra hoisted Gatto onto his shoulders as Null scaled the ropes, only to be shoved off by Macho Tiger. Terra had little time to react before Gatto slipped behind him, shoving him to the outside. Null gingerly made it to his feet, only to be floored with Buona Notte (Standing Shiranui) for the three count.
Result: The Feline Consortium (1-0) defeated The Mighty Now Thrive (0-2) at 12:18 by pinfall via Buona Notte (Standing Shiranui)
Main Event
Block A Match
Clay Krueger (0-0) vs. Migeru Takahashi (0-0)
Right away the big fight atmosphere could be felt, as Clay and Migeru stood face to face as the fans cheered. Migeru was the first to make a move, connecting with a right hand that Clay quickly returned. The two proceeded to work a technical match, Clay’s veteran instincts giving him a slight advantage over Migeru’s natural ability. Twice Clay was able to avoid defeat, ducking underneath Migeru’s Spotlight (Wristlock Lariat) and managing to roll through an attempt at No Love Loss (Crossface). Migeru was no slouch, reversing an attempt at Peaks and Troughs (Powerbomb on the knees) into a frankensteiner that left Clay reeling. The intensity began to pick up in the closing moments, the two firing off strikes that echoed throughout the building. Migeru was quicker to withstand it, firing off several in succession before ducking underneath a strike, lifting Clay up for the Kurushimi (Air Crash Raid Neckbreaker). Lifting Clay up, Migeru went for the Spotlight once more, only for Clay to pull him in for a Strike Back (Overhead Belly to Belly). Migeru stumbled to his feet, only to be taken down by the Chainsaw Blade (Spear) for the hard fought win.
Result: Clay Krueger (1-0) defeated Migeru Takahashi (0-1) at 18:57 via Chainsaw Blade (Spear)
Post match, Clay gave a nod to Migeru, clearly impressed with the Squires Academy graduate. Rolling out of the ring, Clay headed to the back, allowing Migeru to receive applause from the fans. Aimi Jun made her way down to ringside, helping Migeru to the back to close the show.
